I know I still use xp, and until today, was like everyone else, stuck with no update's, which, as we know stopped a while back.. Here in the uk however, the gov in it's wisdom still pay microshit a fee to continue support, support which only they could get.. until now. Copy into txt file, rename reg, and double click, and watch them updates happen all the way to 2019:

Thought of asking this to all members. Which one is more better, Haxorware or Forceware ?

State your experience's, according to them, tell us which one is better to use. Which concept or methods you prefer ?

Don't forget to state your answers. Four simple & short points would be great about which one you prefer and why !

New security?

Just got a facelift..

Mate comes to house, with a modem for me to test, plug's it in, 150 meg, lasted 10 min, cut off. Boy goes home, plug's box back in, working. Bring's it back, die's again.. take's it elsewhere, die's again, take's it back to scource, work's.

Dont be telling me clone detection is in effect, since the modem is origional.

Tell me they did'nt geo-tag the modem to the post-code. Ie, if the modem aint home, it aint working.

You see, they'd have to defeat cloning to defeat us.

Meaning cert's are now also, well, useless..

I mean, what if they just sent out a network card with a socket to plug in your coax, and the chip is a single chip, with ZERO flashing capabilities?

Cheaper than a modem.

With no snmp, what would YOU do?

To andym, I say, even on sbh, they were completely wrong, just as they were on usbjtag.. believe it or not, you DID make a succesfull dump. And to show how much they know, ask them about 'layering' firmware images..

See, pin 8 we used to use, and it is here we see where you thought you fucked up.. I believe ubfi1 + 2 are INTENTIONALLY left blank, in order for the pin 7 to load ubfi1 + 2 into the bank at pin 8. If this does not happen, modem will not boot. This is the 'new' netgear security.. modem IS run from pin 8, pin 7 being the scource at bootime of what goes into ubfi1+2.

I'll even go as far as say, that it's a puma 5 modem, running ecos. at least in the pin 8 bank.. because I booted using a 280, 480, and ubee, not to mention 6120 and 6141 bootloader's, boot is fine, but no matter what I change, unless I return it to stock, boot is halted, even when crc of either image is fine..

So right now, I have a dedicated worktop with a 485 hooked up awaiting that magic moment when the so called guru's chip in.. or someone throws a working console from mickmc68's post..

What's the bet, in supabooms, is the old netgear bug 'remote server only allows single user access' (if telnet, console, and web gui, are all active at same time) has been set so that if telnet/serial is accessed, gui is switched off, and may even be extended to - if pin 7 bank dont match pin 8 bank.. cant be done, see, pin 8 now only shows u-boot, and env1+2, env1+2 DONT match env1+2 in pin 7 flash..

NOw would be a good time for senior dev's to look into that mickmc68's file, because your gona wanna, knowing that all security from here is spread to the four wind's.. Wink

Oh, and there are 3 flash banks, we can only see pin 7 and pin 8, boot log shows another Wink

Jtag Utility

Good Day,

Hope ya doing well. Does anyone have a download link to Tom's Jtag Utility (as seen in this video).

I'm asking this because for some reason the blackcat usb won't find my board. I'm trying to back up the firmware before I flash. Well actually I'm trying to get the board recognized in the first place.

I've solder a 10-pin on the board checked the continuity with a multimeter and it checked out ok.

I installed the blackcat usb programmer and tried using the blackcat software to backup my firmware but some how the software can't find my board. I'm trying to mod my SB5100. I know its old but I'm doing it for educational purpose and as a soft test to understand what I'm doing before I mod my SBG901.

So I'm trying to see if this Jtag Utility software would work, if that doesn't work, I'll have to try something else. Can anyone help with a download link to this software?

P.S. I currently don't own a windows machine so I'm borrowing one. Hence the reason for my rush to try to get this to work quick. But I was wondering if I can use a VM windows machine on my mac with the black usb. Have anyone here done this? I think I saw a post where drewmerc said he uses vm player in debian. but anywayz thanks in advance for your help.

T4 Timeouts AGAIN!!!!

Ok....ever since the last time I posted about this I have improved my signals A LOT Ex:

Screen Shot

Now, as you can most are very close or at exactly 0.0dBmV which is dead on perfect. But I am still getting this fuckin T4 Timeouts that reboot my modem all the time. I set the modem to not do a full reboot (like it was) when it got them and just Re-Initialize. So far that has helped maintain the settings on my modem and not revert them to the one in the Config. Now apparently my ISP considers this an Issue worth rolling a tech to the premises to fix it but their solution is just to replace the modem. Seeing I don't have service with them, that is not an option. But I have 6 modems and I tried all of them and the signals are near perfect and the issue persists. Does anyone have any idea WTF Is going on here??? I would really like to have this fixed. Side note: Even ignoring T1 T2 T3 T4 Timeoutes in Haxorware I still sometimes get them If anyone needs a telnet log from my Hax modem it is available upon request.

Newbie question: hacking a modem to use its usb port with android usb eth0?

Hello there,

I am newbie to modem hacking and could not find any answer to my question.

I have a webstar 2100 and with the original cisco firmware, I can't connect to the Internet using the usb port of the modem to the eth0 usb port of my android device. Probably because of the lack of drivers as only the mac address of the modem is recognized.

So I do wonder: if I hack my modem, will this be helpful in some kind of ways to solve the problem? My system is know to be working great with asix chipset...

Thanks,

canadien

FlashCat USB scripts (.fcs) error

hey fellaz,

got the sb5100mod up n running:

sb5100mod screenshot

I had to modify BCUSB script for some strange reason their if statements stop the read/write to bootloader and read/write firmware option.

This is the details if anyone is experiencing this same issue with their script. I know the sb5100 is pretty much dead but I don't know maybe someone falls into the same scenarios as me:

my equipment:
Modem: SB5100
Programmer: Flashcat usb board version 2.1 (create by embeddedcomputers)
Software package: FCUSB.RC17.350
Flashing software: FlashcatUSB build 350 (found in the software package)

The original script was as follow:
BCM3348_JTAG.fcs
Code:
# Script file for BCM3348 - 0x334817F

I just commented out the if statements for the write events for the bootloader and the firmware option and the flashcatusb did its job.

BUT BE AWARE that the if statements as you can see do some validation to ensure that the bootloader and firmware you are using are legit. So commenting these out means that you trust that the bootloader and firmware you are flashing your modem with is without a doubt correct.

Modified script:
Code:
# Script file for BCM3348 - 0x334817F

MyDevice = "Broadcom BCM3348"    #Name of device

Anywayz, if anyone is having issues with their flashcat usb script try debugging it by commenting out some if statements and placing sum Status("Message") function to see if the code reaches that part of the script.

I original came to ask about my SBG901 but I'll post that in another thread as this one is already huge.

I'm just leaving this here maybe it helps someone maybe it doesn't what do you think?
