so i just bought this modem off a friend and i was able to login to the router settings but was unable to get online, i tried upgrading haxorware from rev 38 to 39 via ethernet wire and now im fairly certain the modem is bricked, only the online light flashes and the pc activity light stays solid the rest are off, is there any way to flash this without the usb cable? im still trying to have firmware on it where i can adjust the mac to a live address i have

SB 5101 w/ Rev. 39

Just picked up a couple of 5101's running Rev. 39. Added a live mac, switched to Docsys 1.0 the way I did with the old Rev 38's. Modem will train, but still can't gain sync. I have seen these work with my provider, but can't figure what configuration changes I need to make. Anybody have an idea?

Operational and then stuck at ranging!

I'm on Haxorware Version 1.1 Revision 39 with DPC2100R2 and I'm having a strange issue. I get a mac from SNMPcfg and put it in Haxorware, the modem becomes operational and then randomly it disconnects. When it reboots and starts ranging it gets stuck on upstream ranging. The status shows locked and then start scanning downstream and it stays in the loop.

I'm on docsis 1.1, could it be the issue of certs? I have tried BPI+ docsis 1.1 and BPI+ pybass in haxorware with no joy

If it is an issue of certificates then why the modem is getting operational

The signal levels are strong

any help would be appreciatedSmile

Tutorial to flash SPI chips with Parallel(LPT1) port

I recently got my hands on a Ambit 256 which has a SPI flash and I wanted to flash it but didn't have access to USBJTAGNT, so I looked around to see what other options do I have, after doing a research i came up with this great piece of software called SPIPGM.

This software works with majority of SPI chips, including BIOS, modems like ambit 256, SB5101/n/u and many more

COMMANDS FOR SPIPGM

SPIPGM is a dos based application so first

Go to run and type cmd

type cd.. until you are at c:

now locate the spipgm folder (for example, C:\spipgm)

Identify the chip by using

spipgmw -i

if it doesn't detect the chip, check your connection.

Unlock the flash

spipgmw -u

Erase the whole flash

spipgmw -e

Make backup of the whole flash

spipgmw -d c:\xxx.bin

Write the bin file to the flash

spipgmw -p c:\xxxxxxx.bin (give the correct address to your bin file)

Verify the newly flashed bin with the bin file to make sure the write was successful

spipgmw- v c:\xxxxxxx.bin

Verification is important, when you are dumping a flash or writing a new bin to the chip. Also make sure to erase the flash before writing new bin to it.

You only need 4 resistor and a parallel port connector and a good soldering skills. You will have to lift the chip off the board in order to make this work. I haven't tried flashing it with the chip on board. Here is the schematic.

Just make sure to use thin and small wires, otherwise data will keep getting corrupt. Try to get some old IDE cable, they are easy to solder and perfect for this hack.

Always use a capacitor. 5v 10uf or any capacitor with 5v ratings.

Always make sure that the connection is according to the schematic.

To get the 3.3v I simply stripped the orange wire from my pc power supply. If you have a multimeter, you can check if you have the right voltage.

What can I do with a Motorola 6121?

Hi guys,

I bought a Motorola Surfboard 6121 DOCSIS 3.0 and tried to activate it with my ISP but they refused to do.

They said that they stopped activating customer modems but they used to and as you can imagine the support said I can use my modem but I have to install it myself and they don't know how.

There is any way to activate it myself?

The modem that I have, provided by the ISP, is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 DOCSIS 2.0 and my connection is 10MB.

I bought this modem because there is a monthly fee to use their modem which in 2 years is the price of a new 6121 and I'm a customer for about 4 years now.

I don't really want to use free internet or increase the speed or anything like that, just want to use the bought modem which I'm assuming that is better than the current one and cancel the monthly fee.

Is that possible?

The modem boots, the downstream and upstream lights get blue (seems like the ISP provides DOCSIS 3.0) but it can't get online (seems like it can't get an IP address from ISP).

Webstar DPC2100R2 - Flash

Hi, im new on the forum

I got a Scientific Atlanta Webstar DPC2100R2
with the Sotfware version: dpc2100R2-v2.0.2r1256-110419as-COX

I know that to upgrade to a Haxoware 1.1 rev39, a need to got the version: v202r1256-060303 that i already downloaded with the bins: boot, cfg, imagen 0 and 1, log.

I need the steps of how do this, because im not sure how to do it and im afraid of killthe modem.

Just in case that i have not to change the sotfware version to the v202r1256-060303, and i can just upgrade with the i already have to the Haxorware 1.1 rev39, let me know please.

Access to linux side of combo router/modem

I'm in the middle of a Netgear beta test of a new variant of their existing C7000B 24x8 Docsis 3 cable modem / router. Being a beta unit, it has an added ethernet WAN port for testing of the wireless router side of the unit without the cable modem side used. (They're waiting until after the beta test of the router features / stability before having the unit certified on the cable provider's networks. After we're done with Phase I we'll be testing it on the cable network in Phase II).

I have access to the eCos shell on the unit, but the 'shell' command for invoking the linux shell is not functional. Anyone that knows Netgear's equipment or combo modem / routers better than I do have a clue on how I might gain access to the linux side of this router (without JTAG/console access).

I want to flash my SB5101 with BlackCat and I'm not sure if I can use the parallel port or I need the USB jtag tool
I have the Parallel to 10pin cable and some headers to solder into modem
I'm hesitant because I read that the parallel port doesn't always work

any help appreciated

Hello,

I want to flash my old EURO-DOCSIS 2.0 SB5100 cable modem with SIGMA-X2. Just for playing and testing some things out. I just finished reading the book Hacking The Cable Modem. Very usefull book btw!

Is there a still a download available for SIGMA-X2 on the net? Or can anyone provide me one?

Hey there I'm new here and I want to know that if I have a coaxial cable from my room to another room
And in the other room it's connected with a 5101 modem , and in my room the coaxial is just Hooked up to the tv.
Can I connect another modem from my coaxial cable ? And connect the modem directly to my Ps4 ?

hi guys been reading and searching since before xmas to find out iff there is a way to hide the diag version of haxorware?
iff there is could some kind person let me no because google is no help and searched here and other sites but nothing as came up, or am I just thinking that I need a original, say moto diag firmware and that wont be recognised?
